Obama and Christie to Visit Jersey Shore on Tuesday

This will be Obama's first visit to Shore since just after Sandy

President Obama and Gov. Christie will visit the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, according to The Record in Bergen County. Herb Jackson of the Record and northjersey.com reports President Obama will visit the Jersey Shore on Tuesday with Gov. Christie. This will be Obama's first visit to the area since Oct. 31, just after the storm struck. More information can be found here.

Deadline to Apply for FEMA, SBA Extended to May 1

Deadline extension applies for homeowner, renter and business registration with SBA

Residents impacted by Superstorm Sandy now have until May 1 to register for individual disaster assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), according to a prepared statement from the governor's office.  The deadline extension also applies for homeowner, renter, and business registration with the Small Business Administration (SBA) for Disaster Loan Assistance. Businesses applying for SBA Economic Injury loans still have until July 31 to apply. The loans are for businesses that did not suffer any physical damage, but lost revenue in Sandy's aftermath. State and federal offiicials have urged all residents and businesses affected by the storm, whether it was through flooding, wind damage or loss of business  revenue, …

State Urges Preparations for Major Coastal Storm to Impact New Jersey

Tonight's commute will be "treacherous," says state Police and Emergency Management

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, in coordination with the National Weather Service, is monitoring a major coastal storm expected to impact the state today and tomorrow.   State emergency management officials anticipate coastal flooding, high wind conditions, snow, sleet, and even blizzard conditions in the northeast corner of the state, according to a prepared statement from state Emergency Management.   The State Emergency Operations Center in West Trenton will be activated at 7 a.m. today, and will remain open as long as necessary to meet anticipated challenging conditions. Residents Encouraged to Report Storm Damages

The county is seeking to appeal a FEMA denial for individual assistance.

Both residents and businesses that suffered damages to property or incurred losses as a result of the June 30 derecho that left the county without power for days are encouraged to report that information to either county or municipal emergency management officials, according to a release from Atlantic County on Friday. The county is seeking an appeal on a FEMA decision that does not include individual assistance for homeowners and businesses impacted by the storm, the release said. A federal disaster declaration for public assistance to certain non-profits and government agencies was enacted on July 19 in Atlantic, Salem and Cumberland counties, but that declaration excludes individual homeowners and businesses, the release said. Less Than 500 in Atlantic County Without Power on Sunday

Debris disposal sites are open today.

Less than 500 Atlantic County Electric customers are without power as of Sunday morning, according to the Atlantic City Electric's outage map. Debris disposal sites for residential disposal of tree debris (with proof of residency) are open on Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations: Riverbend Park, Route 559 between Betsy Scull Road and Green Tree Golf Course, and Estell Manor Park, north entrance off Route 50 in Mays Landing. Additional county ice and water distribution is not planned at this time, as forecasts are calling for cooler temperatures, according to a release from Atlantic County on Sunday.
