The county will negotiate with the owners of 24 of the lots in the interest of right of way easements. The county will negotiate with the Richard …

Nice to see at least one governmental entity that is proactive to future projects. A tip of the hat to the gov't employees and their bosses at Atlantic County!   more ›

Galloway Residents, Officials Leave Garden State Parkway Hearing Frustrated

Questions were asked, but answers will come in a report issued after Feb. 4, 2013.

For the second time since August, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority held a public event at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey to discuss two of the Garden State Parkway interchange projects in Galloway Township, and for the second time in six months, those with questions left the meeting frustrated. The Turnpike Authority hosted a public information session followed by a public hearing at the Campus Center Theater on Tuesday night, Dec. 4. Officials gave a power point presentation on the project before taking comments from local officials and residents. All comments were recorded, with responses to this and other questions to be issued in a report at a later date. No responses were given to comments and questions asked Tuesday …

Why do you think they are classified as an "Authority"? Simply put, they are a bunch of political hacks from North Jersey who couldn't care less about Galloway. Their collective opinion is......"just shut up and pay your tolls". South Jersey is a small annoyance to them that doesn't have enough political influence (read...votes) to make a difference in statewide politics. I remember when they …   more ›

Ninth District Delegation to Introduce Legislation Allocating CRDA Funds For Highway Projects

Currently, the use of CRDA funds is limited to projects within Atlantic City.

The State legislators for the Ninth District are working on legislation that would allow Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) to be used for the proposed Garden State Parkway-Route 30 interchange. Sen. Jim Whelan, who represents the Second Legislative District, says the proposed legislation "isn't going anywhere." Earlier this month, Sen. Christopher J. Connors proposed the use of CRDA funds to pay for the interchange, but Whelan countered this idea by pointing out that legislation enacted to create the Atlantic City Tourism District specified CRDA funds can only be used for projects within Atlantic City’s borders. On Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 23, the Ninth District legislators announced their intention to introduce legislation …

All I can say is it's about time!! Whelan "fought to get CRDA funding back into Atlantic City" AFTER his Camden County masters nearly choked to death on fistfuls of cash for worthless projects to keep his construction union buddies working. That work came at a very steep price Mr Whalen, very steep. Now you, who claims to be a friend of Galloway Twp, would fight to deny this LEGITIMATE project. …   more ›

Democrats Issue Joint Statement on Route 30, Garden State Parkway Interchange

Democratic representatives from the county, Galloway and Absecon weigh in on interchange issue.

To the Editor: For many years, Democrats in Absecon, Galloway Township, the Freeholder Board and others have urged Republican and Democratic administrations to create a full Garden State Parkway interchange for the White Horse Pike. A full interchange on Route 30 would help Absecon and Galloway bring more commercial ratables to the White Horse Pike, creating new jobs and economic opportunities for both our residents and for developers. A full interchange  would also serve a vital public safety purpose by allowing emergency personnel another way to access AtlantiCare Hospital. If Jimmie Leeds Road is blocked, emergency vehicles could exit at the full interchange and travel westward on Route 30 to Chris Gaupp Drive and arrive at the hospital…

Sen. Whelan: CRDA Funds Can't Be Used to Fund Proposed Interchange

Jim Whelan met with New Jersey Turnpike Authority officials on Friday.

The proposed use of Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) funds to pay for an interchange connecting the Garden State Parkway with Route 30 is misleading to the public, Sen. Jim Whelan said Friday afternoon. Whelan released a statement following a meeting with New Jersey Turnpike Authority officials, Absecon Mayor Pete Elco and representatives from the New Jersey Department of Transportation and Gov. Chris Christie's Office Friday morning. "In the summer, Gov. Christie signed legislation (S1323/A2575) which amended current law that required the CRDA to devote all future assets and revenue to the Atlantic City Tourism District," Whelan said in the statement. "This legislation had unanimous support in the Legislature. Despite the …

If Sen. Connors voted on Bill S1323 , shouldn't he know the CRDA can't legally fund this project? According to the CRDA nobody from the 9th District has contacted them. I applaud Sen. Whelan for taking an interest in this proposed project that would be a tremendous boost to Galloway in securing commercial ratables in the west bound rt. 30 corridor. Even though he is not representing our district …   more ›

Local Reps Meeting with Turnpike Authority

Local Reps Holding Meetings to Evaluate Interchange Construction and Projects

Sen. Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove have been receiving calls from constituents concerned about the plans for additional parkway interchanges along Route 30 and Jimmie Leeds Road. In response the District 9 legislative delegation representing citizens throughout Atlantic County sent a letter on Aug. 28 proposing that the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) set funds for the land acquisition and construction of a full interchange citing their belief that it is within the CRDA's core mission to support Atlantic City's economy. The letter, sent to Veronique Hakim, Executive Director of the NJ Turnpike Authority, led to meetings being arranged by local representatives working to solve…
