Police Catch Alleged Burglar on 2nd Try in 1 Day

Two homes in the Highlands section of Galloway Township were targeted by an alleged thief.

A woman called police Tuesday afternoon after watching a man try to climb into her home on the 700 block of S. Seventh Avenue through an unlocked rear window.

The man fled on foot as Galloway Township police responded to the scene.

But Kurt F. Moyer, 45, of Toms River, was later apprehended while fleeing a second residence on the 300 block of E. Arbutus Avenue that he allegedly burglarized, according to a news release from the Galloway Township Police Department.

Moyer is charged with burglary, theft and resisting arrest, police said.

Moyer was lodged in the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $65,000 cash bail.

All property allegedly stolen by Moyer from the 300 block of E. Arbutus was recovered by the responding officers and returned to the homeowner.

Officers who made the arrest were James Mulholland and Capt. Christopher Doyle.
